Gol Pani

The Easy and quick Ramadan drink "Gol Pani " which means Jaggery water . A refreshing drink made of Jaggery and basil seeds , both the main ingredients jaggery and basil seeds have immense of health benifits .

Jaggery helps in maintaining normal body temperature which helps in keeping your stomach cool and also boosts intestinal strength due to its high magnesium content. 

Basil seeds , you may have conveniently skipped these nutrient dense seeds on the supermarket aisle, but not anymore you are going to discover some amazing Sabja seeds benefits ,also known a sweet basil or tukmaria seed. In some Asian countries like Thailand  , sabja seeds are used to make drink along with water, sugar, honey and sometimes coconut milk. They are one of the best body coolant .It treats acidity and heartburns too. Soaked sabja seeds are full of water and they help soothing burning sensation. It helps in relieving constipation, bloating and controls blood sugar.

Sabja seeds are most nutritious when soaked in water and consumed. They begin to swell at the touch of water, with a translucent white film  coating each black seed, and they become twice their size. You can soak about two teaspoons of it in one cup of warm water for 15 minutes. Warm water causes the seeds to fully swell up releasing antioxidants and beneficial digestive enzymes.

  • Description : Bohras gol pani

Ingredients

    • 300 gms Jaggery grated
    • 1 tbsp. Basil Seeds (Sabja )
    • 2 tbsp. Lime juice
    • 4 tbsp. Fresh Orange juice or Orange tang(optional)
    • Fresh ginger peeled and crushed
    • Pinch of rock salt
    • Lemon slices and Mint leaves for garnishing

Instruction

    • In a large steel vessel, place jaggery and mix with water.
    • Let keep it for 5-6 hours till jaggery melts.
    • Sieve the water before stirring as you may find sand and unfamiliar grits at bottom,next stir well
    • Add more water as needed to adjust the sweetness.
    • Before making the juice, Soak Basil seeds in 1/4 cup water, It will rise up and look sticky when done.
    • Add Orange juice,lime juice, ginger, salt and basil seeds in jaggery water.
    • Give a good stir and taste it.
    • Serve Chill with ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices.
